Plern is a recent graduate with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Design and Product Development from the Academy of Art University. During her studies, she developed a comprehensive skill set in design concepts, trend research, sketching, garment construction, and pattern making. Her academic achievements include being awarded the 2023 PVH Forward Fashion Scholarship Fund and the 2024 Macy's, Inc. Jeff Gennette Fashion Scholarship Fund, reflecting her commitment to design innovation and sustainability.
During her internship at Marine Layer as an Assistant Technical Designer, Plern gained hands-on experience in pattern making, alterations, using CLO3D and technical design, applying her academic knowledge to real-world challenges. Her work contributed to improving product development processes and delivering practical solutions in the fashion industry.
In addition to her technical expertise, Plern's experience as an NCAA student- athlete in golf has equipped her with exceptional time management, teamwork, and leadership skills. Balancing the demands of rigorous academics and competitive sports taught her how to thrive under pressure and manage time effectively—skills that are crucial in meeting the fast-paced demands of a dynamic work environment.
